The Talking Parrot

The Talking Parrot

Tom is a lazy man. He doesn’t like to work. One day, he sees a sign:
“Talking Parrot for Sale – $20”

Tom is very excited. “Wow! A parrot that talks? Only $20?”
He buys the parrot and takes it home.

At home, Tom says, “Hello!”
The parrot says nothing.

Tom says, “Say something!”
The parrot says nothing again.

Tom gets angry. He goes back to the pet shop.
“This parrot doesn’t talk!” he says.

The shopkeeper says, “Did you buy the mirror?”
“Mirror? No.”

“The parrot likes to see himself in the mirror. Then he talks.”
Tom buys the mirror.

At home, Tom puts the mirror near the parrot.
“Now talk!” Tom says.

The parrot looks at the mirror… but still says nothing.

Tom goes back to the shop again.
“This parrot is broken!” he says.

The shopkeeper asks, “Did you buy the swing?”
“Swing? No!”

“The parrot loves to swing. Then he talks.”
Tom buys the swing.

Now the parrot has a mirror and a swing.
Tom waits… but the parrot still says nothing.

The next day, the parrot dies.

Tom is very sad. He goes to the shop and says,
“The parrot is dead!”

The shopkeeper asks, “Did the parrot say anything before he died?”

Tom says, “Yes. One word.”

The shopkeeper asks, “What word?”
