David was a young boy who lived in a small village near the mountains. He was kind, but he didn’t believe in himself. Every time he wanted to try something new, he said, “I can’t do it.”
One day, his school teacher, Mr. Samuels, gave the class a special task. He said, “Next month, we will go on a mountain walk. It is not very high, but it will be a challenge. I want all of you to prepare.”
David was afraid. He thought, “I am weak. I can’t climb a mountain.” He told his friend Lily, “I will not go. It’s too hard.”
Lily smiled and said, “David, you don’t need to reach the top in one jump. Just take one step at a time.”
That evening, David talked to his grandmother. She listened carefully and said, “David, fear is like a shadow. It looks big, but it cannot stop you unless you let it. Just start walking. One small step is enough.”
The next day, David started to walk every morning. At first, he walked only a little. Then, slowly, he walked more. Every day, he told himself, “Just one more step.”
The day of the mountain walk came. All the students were ready. David felt nervous, but he remembered his grandmother’s words and Lily’s smile.
The walk started. David walked slowly. Sometimes he stopped to rest. Sometimes he wanted to quit. But each time, he looked up, took a deep breath, and said, “Just one more step.”
After two hours, David reached the top. He looked around and saw the village below, small and peaceful. The wind touched his face. He smiled with tears in his eyes.
Lily came next to him and said, “You did it!”
David said, “I just kept walking. I didn’t stop.”
Mr. Samuels clapped and said, “David, today you are a winner. Not because you were fast, but because you didn’t give up.”
From that day, David changed. He started trying new things. He still felt afraid sometimes, but he always remembered: one small step can lead to something big.
Moral: You don’t have to do everything at once. Just take one small step. Keep going, and you will reach your goal.
