Lilly loved jellybeans. She loved all the colors—red, green, yellow, and blue. Every Saturday, she went to Mr. Benny’s candy shop to buy a big bag of jellybeans.
One Saturday, Lilly ran to the shop. “Hello, Mr. Benny! I want my favorite jellybeans, please.”
Mr. Benny smiled and gave her a big bag full of jellybeans. Lilly was very happy.
She ran home quickly. She could not wait to eat them!
But when Lilly opened the bag, something strange happened.
“Whooooosh!” The jellybeans started to jump!
Lilly dropped the bag. The jellybeans bounced all over the room!
Red jellybeans rolled under the table. Green ones hopped on the sofa. Yellow ones jumped into Lilly’s shoe!
Lilly laughed. “Oh no! My jellybeans are alive!”
She tried to catch them, but they were too fast.
Suddenly, a blue jellybean flew in the air and said, “Hello, Lilly! We are the magic jellybeans!”
Lilly’s eyes opened wide. “Magic jellybeans? What do you do?”
“We make funny things happen!” said the red jellybean. “Try eating one!”
Lilly picked a green jellybean and ate it. Suddenly, she felt very tall—taller than her mom!
“Wow!” she said, looking at the ceiling.
Then she ate a yellow jellybean and shrank to the size of a mouse!
“Help!” she squeaked.
The blue jellybean laughed. “Don’t worry! The magic lasts only five minutes.”
Lilly had fun changing sizes. But then, the jellybeans jumped out of the window!
“Oh no!” Lilly cried.
She ran outside and saw the jellybeans bouncing around the garden.
The red jellybeans made funny shapes. The green ones sang songs. The yellow ones did little dances.
Lilly laughed and clapped her hands.
Then, a big jellybean said, “Lilly, if you want us back in the bag, you must catch us all!”
Lilly took a deep breath. She ran after the jellybeans. They were fast and tricky.
She crawled under bushes, jumped over puddles, and climbed on rocks.
After a while, Lilly caught the last jellybean. “Got you!” she said.
The jellybeans jumped happily into the bag.
Lilly closed the bag tightly. “Thank you for the fun, magic jellybeans. But I think I want normal jellybeans next time!”
She smiled and went inside to tell her mom about the great jellybean mix-up.
Moral: Sometimes, surprises are fun, but it’s good to be ready for anything!
